During the winter months there’s sure to be an increase in the number of people in poverty in the region.

Charities included in the guide help to tackle poverty in the North East and Northumberland.

One of those charities is The Cedarwood Trust who have been tackling poverty since 1990.

They have seen an uptake after the pandemic and with the rise of the cost of living they expect to see more people who need help.

Wayne Dobson, the trust’s CEO, said people need help more than ever whether they are on universal credit or working full time.

The guide is the first of its kind in the country and the charities that were included were chosen because they are smaller organisations.
