Newcastle United, Manchester United and West Ham wait on imminent transfer decision

Christian Eriksen is close to deciding who his next club will be amid interest from a clutch of Premier League clubs.

A number of clubs have approached the Denmark international after he marked his remarkable comeback with a successful six-month spell at Brentford.

Thomas Frank’s Bees handed Eriksen the opportunity to resume his football career, seven months after the midfielder suffered a cardiac arrest at Euro 2020.

If anyone had doubted Eriksen, well the 30-year-old soon proved them wrong - making 11 appearances for the West London club, scoring once and providing four assists.

Now out-of-contract, Brentford have offered Eriksen fresh terms, however Frank’s side are resigned to losing him amid growing interest from elsewhere.

Indeed, Newcastle United are among the clubs to have reportedly approached Eriksen, along with Manchester United, West Ham United, Leicester City and Everton.

Eriksen decision ‘soon’, Spurs return downplayed

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Eriksen will make a decision “soon”, though a return to Tottenham Hotspur is being played down.

Interestingly, Football.London reports that Spurs are distancing themselves from talk of a reunion with Eriksen, despite boss Antonio Conte previously expressing a desire to sign him.

“For sure, to work again with Christian would be a fantastic opportunity,” Conte said. “I enjoyed the time we spent together in Inter Milan, despite the first time he didn’t play regularly with me but then when I understood what I wanted about him then he played.

“We won together a title, the league in Italy. When you have this type of player, a great player, a good man, I think every manager, every coach, likes to work with them.”

The player was initially understood to be keen to remain in London where his family are settled but that is no longer the case.

Many view Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United as favourites to land Eriksen.
