Bournemouth face Newcastle United next in the Premier League and one Cherries star is an admirer of a particular Magpies star

Upcoming Premier League opponents Bournemouth appear to be very aware of the growing prowess of Newcastle United forward Anthony Gordon if the fantasy football choices of once Cherries star is anything to go by.

The former Everton man has gone from strength to strength under Eddie Howe this season after his £45 million move in January. Gordon has four goals and four assists this season and is becoming a key cog in the Magpies machine.

His performances are turning heads across the league, including that of Cherries midfielder David Brooks. FPL Focal tracks the Premier League stars who indulge in the Fantasy Premier League game and the 26-year-old made a transfer to bring Gordon into his 'Tinchy Sneijder' to replace injured Wolves man Pedro Neto.

The move proved a wise one for Brooks too, with Gordon scoring the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Arsenal at St James' Park and picking up seven points. However, Gordon's run of form could prove far from a fantasy for Brooks, with his team welcoming Eddie Howe's side to the Vitality Stadium on Saturday.

Reacting to the match, which saw Gordon moved into a central role just before grabbing his goal, the Magpies man said: "It feels amazing, a big win at home, especially against Arsenal.

"That's [positional change] all down to the manager. We've been having some jokes about it in the changing room, that's down to him for putting me there. I'm really comfortable, I feel really good when I play there, I've got areas to improve, I'm obviously not the biggest so hold-up play is quite difficult for me but my movement comes quite naturally to me as a nine."

Some Newcastle United stars, including Gordon, also enjoy playing the Fantasy Premier League game. Fabian Schar continues to lead the team's mini-league with Kieran Trippier in second and Harvey Barnes in third. This week's top scorer was Schar, who has recorded 46 points so far thanks to a Bruno Fernandes haul and clean sheets from teammates Trippier and Nick Pope.
