Bruno Guimaraes has given Newcastle United - and Brazil - an injury scare.

Newcastle United star Bruno Guimaraes reportedly required medical attention during a training session with Brazil today. According to UOL Esporte, the midfielder left the pitch after feeling pain in his right foot.

Guimaraes is currently in Italy with his Selecao teammates as they undergo the early part of their World Cup preparations at Juventus’ training ground. Guimaraes provided boss Tite with a scare but the good news is he was able to complete the session, although was “still limping a little and looking uncomfortable”.

The former Lyon man, who turns 25 today, linked up with Brazil earlier this week after playing a full 90 minutes in Newcastle’s 1-0 win over Chelsea at St James’ Park on Saturday evening.

Speaking about his World Cup call-up, Guimaraes said: “We didn’t know if I would be in the squad. Everyone asks this but in Brazil we don’t know, we only find out on the day, watching television like everybody else

“It was tremendously emotional. I think everyone’s seen the video with all my relatives and family. It’s traditional in Brazil for all the players to watch the squad announcement before the World Cup. I genuinely didn’t know beforehand.”

Meanwhile, Manchester United defender Alex Telles, currently on loan at Sevilla, also went to ground in the session following a tackle by Neymar. Training was momentarily stopped as Telles was checked out by the physio before he was given the go-ahead to continue.
