Newcastle United’s meteoric rise in the Premier League continued at St James’ Park as they strode to an emphatic 4-0 win over managerless Aston Villa.
Two goals from Callum Wilson, the first of which was a penalty, followed by strikes from Joelinton and man of the moment Miguel Almiron, made it five wins out of six in the top flight for the Magpies.

Hide AdAnd here’s how head coach Eddie Howe reacted to the result: “We know where we are and what we are in the middle of. It’s a very busy time. It was an outstanding performance and we scored some great goals. It was a bity first half and that didn’t really suit us.
“We showed good energy in the second half and the goals made the difference.” On Almiron’s goal, Howe added: “It was an incredible strike. He has got a great left foot. It was a pin-point finish. He never stopped and kept going.”
