And reports have linked Newcastle with two summer moves at opposite ends of the field.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claim that the Tynesiders are keen on a move for AC Milan forward Rafael Leao.

The 22-year-old has excelled in Serie A and is comfortable playing anywhere across the frontline - and is reportedly viewed as an ‘exciting option’ for Newcastle as they look to show their ambition in the transfer market.

And Newcastle have also been linked with a move for former Sunderland loanee Jason Denayer.

The Belgian international is entering the final six months of his contract at current club Lyon and is yet to commit his future to the Ligue 1 outfit.

That has alerted a number of clubs, with Het Nieuwsblad reporting that Barcelona, Juventus and Napoli are also monitoring the situation.

Denayer, who previously played for Manchester City, has impressed since joining the French side and is said to be in no hurry to make a decision on his future.
