Newcastle United are now counting down the days until their first Premier League clash back from the international break.

It has been a disappointing start to the season from the Magpies, who have lost three of their first four fixtures, and Eddie Howe’s men are going to have to improve quickly. Newcastle will hold European qualification expectations this season, and they are also about to begin their Champions League campaign, and in a tough group no less.

Toney links

According to Football Transfers, the Magpies are keen to plan long-term, with Callum Wilson now 31, and they could rival the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham for Toney. The striker is currently suspended until January due to gambling violations.

Toney recently changed agencies, and transfer speculation surrounding the striker is intensifying amid interest from around the Premier League. The striker has scored 63 goals in 111 league appearances for Brentford.

Willock spotted

Newcastle star Joe Willock has been spotted in Barcelona as he continues his recovery from injury.

A recent setback means the former Arsenal star will miss the upcoming clashes with Brentford and AC Milan. Eddie Howe recently said: “Joe’s had a bit of a setback with an Achilles injury. It’s not related to his hamstring problem so I think he’ll be missing for around six weeks.”

In the meantime, Willock has been in Spain working with club physio Daniel Marti, hoping to regain fitness and strength in the warmer climate. Willock was also sent to Spain in the summer for a hamstring injury, and he will be hoping to return from his latest issue in the next couple of weeks.
