Newcastle United open talks with £40m star after double contract announcement
Newcastle United are reportedly in talks with Joelinton over a new contract after announcing extensions for Bruno Guimaraes and Dan Burn.
The 27-year-old moved to St James’ Park from Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim for £40million in 2019. He put pen to paper on a five-year deal, which is set to expire in 2025.

Hide AdJoelinton struggled during his first two years on Tyneside but the appointment of Eddie Howe in November 2021 sparked the Brazilian into life.
His transformation is one of the biggest in the Magpies’ history having found success as a midfielder, despite being initially signed as a No.9.
After helping keep the Magpies in the Premier League, Joelinton won the Player of the Year award for 2021-22 and continued his form into last season in which Champions League qualification was secured.
United have confirmed new contracts for Guimaraes (2028) and Burn (2025) this month and according to Football Insider, talks are progressing with Joelinton.

The player is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury but Magpies’ head coach Eddie Howe is hopeful to have him back available for the visit of Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm).
Indeed, it’s been a frustrating start to the campaign for Joelinton. He carried a knee injury before picking up a hamstring issue just four minutes after coming on as a substitute against Burnley, which has forced him to miss the last two matches.
