The Magpies have been handed some transfer advice ahead of the summer window.

Newcastle United have been told to ‘go all out’ to sign Manchester City star Riyad Mahrez as the winger looks to help his side complete a historic treble.

The Algerian international was in fine form on Saturday as his hat-trick helped Pep Guardiola’s side see off Sheffield United to reach the FA Cup Final and he will hope to retain his place when City host Premier League title rivals Arsenal in a crunch clash on Wednesday night.

The 32-year-old winger has continued to impress for City as they look to join cross-city rivals Manchester United as the only English clubs to have completed a treble of the FA Cup, Premier League and Champions League over the next six weeks - but former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore believes his time at the Etihad Stadium could be limited and suggested Newcastle as a possible destination.

He told Caught Offside: “Riyad Mahrez is another player I think Newcastle should be seriously considering. I know he’s played a fair amount of football this season, probably more than he was expecting, but with Jack Grealish the younger of the two, as well as how much they paid for him, I can’t see him being a player that is moved on, whereas, I think Mahrez could be made surplus to requirements under Pep Guardiola.

“Should that be the case, Newcastle should go all out for him – I would be stunned if they aren’t already to be fair.”

The 16-year-old centre-back stands at 6ft 5in and has already made eight senior appearances for the Croatian club, scoring his maiden goal in a cup win over Osijek last month. His performances in the UEFA Youth League and at first-team level have captured the attention of the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

Manchester City have reportedly lodged an enquiry for the £12m-rated youngster and Newcastle were said to be represented as Vuskovic helped Hajduk’s Under-19s to a win over their AC Milan counterparts on Friday.
