Sean Longstaff went viral in the build-up to Newcastle United’s 4-0 victory over Crystal Palace after a well-known prankster posted some amusing fake news.

@FrancisChipp, widely known as Big Frank Chippa, is renowned for catching users out on X, so much so that he’s become a somewhat famous figure among the fanbase.

And incredibly, much to the laughter of those who are fully aware of his antics, a post regarding Longstaff was picked up by some prominent YouTube accounts.

#NUFC midfielder Sean Longstaff has submitted a request to be given the month of November off,” he said. “The 25 year old wants to go travelling with younger brother Matthew.”

Matthew, of course, is former Magpies midfield Matty, who was released by the club in the summer but has remained at the training ground as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury.

Indeed, the post was brought to Sean’s attention and brilliantly addressed it when reacting to United’s win over Palace.

“No time for travelling when there’s 3 points at SJP to be had,” Longstaff said. “See you all back at home on Wednesday.”

Longstaff has been an instrumental part of the Newcastle team that has gone eight games unbeaten. He was on the scoresheet versus Palace as further goals from Jacob Murphy, Anthony Gordon and Callum Wilson moved the Magpies up to fifth in the Premier League table.
