The Magpies are said to be interested in the Italy international as doubts remain over his future with Juventus.

Juventus star Federico Chiesa has reportedly snubbed an offer from Aston Villa and is giving consideration to a ‘proposal’ from Newcastle United.

Italian news outlet Corriere della Sera have claimed the 42-times capped Italy international is ‘intrigued’ by the possibility of a move to Tyneside following the Magpies successful push for a Champions League spot last season and has already been the subject of a proposal from the United hierarchy.

Dusan Vlahovic and Federico Chiesa have been linked with moves to the Premier League this summer. Newcastle United, Chelsea and Liverpool are reportedly among the interested parties.

Speaking about his future during the recent international break, Chiesa said: "I'm happy with how I finished, it was a really difficult year for me. Now I'm only thinking about the holidays, then from next season I'll start preparing already from the summer training camp. Reopening with me? We'll see, I'm at Juventus and I'm thinking about Juventus."

That proposal has not been dismissed by their Juve counterparts as the Serie A giants consider allowing a number of players to depart after their failure to qualify for the Champions League. Striker Dusan Vlahovic - who has also been linked with a move to Tyneside over the last year - is also under consideration to be sold and experienced defender Leonardo Bonucci, former Leeds United loan midfielder Weston McKennie and midfield duo Denis Zakaria and Arthur Melo have all been ‘excluded from the project’ according to reports in Italy.

United’s interest in Chiesa has been widely reported in recent weeks as they look to add a winger to their squad ahead of the new Premier League season. However, their priority at this point in time is progressing in their move for Leicester City winger Harvey Barnes, who is said to be keen to make the move to St James Park following the Foxes relegation into the Championship.
