The 12 Premier League teams Newcastle United face before & after Champions League group games

Newcastle United’s 2023-24 Premier League fixture list has been revealed, and supporters are already wondering how that impacts their Champions League campaign.

The Magpies return to Europe’s elite for the first time in 20 years, and the countdown to the start of the group stage in September is well underway.

When is Newcastle United’s first Champions League group game?

Matchday one of the Champions League group stage gets underway on September 19 and 20, which falls either side of Newcastle’s home game against Brentford and away trip to Sheffield United. The rest is as followed:

If Newcastle gain qualification out of the group, the knockout stages begin in February. The final is held at Wembley.

When is the Champions League group stage draw?

The draw for the Champions League group stage - involving 32 clubs - is set to take place on Thursday, August 31, 2023.

Twenty-six teams - including the Champions League holders and previous season’s Europa League winners - qualify automatically for the group stage, with the final six berths being decided via the play-offs.
