Road closures: six for Gateshead drivers over the next fortnight

Drivers in and around Gateshead will have six National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause delays of between 10 minutes and half an hour.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that two closures already in place are expected to carry on this week:

• A184, from 9.30am April 11 to 3.30pm June 20, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A194M northbound, Follingsby Interchange to White Mare Pool Roundabout - South Tyneside works.

• A1, from 8pm February 7 2022 to 6am August 31 2024, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 65 Birtley to junction 69 Coalhouse, carriageway closures and lane closures for major project widening works.

And a further four closures will begin over the next two weeks:

• A195(M), from 10pm June 5 to 6am June 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1M northbound and southbound, junction 64 to junction 65, lane closures for bridge inspection/survey works.

• A69, from 9am June 7 to 4pm June 8, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A69 Hassock Bog to Throckley - Lane closures to carry out combined detailed inspection and Routine maintenance activities safely.

• A1, from 8pm June 9 to 6am June 10, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 to junction 74, Lane closure for drainage works.

• A1, from 8pm June 14 to 6am June 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 70 to junction 73, Lane closures for horticultural works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
