New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Acorn Chop Suey, at 1 Acorn Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on January 19.

And Peggy Sues Diner, at 203 Chillingham Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was given a score of one on January 20.

It means that of Newcastle's 669 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 476 (71%) have ratings of five and just two have zero ratings.
