New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

Gingerino's, at Gingerinos Kitchen 8 Stepney Bank, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on July 18.

And TeAmo Chinese and BBQ House, at 13 Percy Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne was given a score of one on July 18.

It means that of Newcastle's 664 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 490 (74%) have ratings of five and just two have zero ratings.
