New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of Newcastle’s restaurants, cafes or canteens, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

West Road Deli, at 432 Westgate Road, Newcastle Upon Tyne was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on August 7.

And Town House Cafe, at 11 Grainger Street, Newcastle Upon Tyne was given a score of three on August 7.

It means that of Newcastle's 667 restaurants, cafes and canteens with ratings, 488 (73%) have ratings of five and just one has a zero rating.
