Drivers in and around Newcastle will have three National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

Drivers in and around Newcastle will have three National Highways road closures to watch out for this week.

And one of them is expected to cause moderate delays – with motorists facing a holdup of between 10 and 30 minutes.

The latest expected works list, with notes from National Highways, shows that three closures are due to start over the next two weeks:

A696, from 9.30am January 15 to 3.30pm January 17, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A696 northbound, Newbiggin, lane closure for maintenance works.

A19, from 8pm January 15 to 6am January 16, slight delays (under 10 minutes): A19 northbound and southbound, Fisher Lane to Moor Farm, Lane closures for drainage works.

A1, from 8pm January 28 to 6am February 6, moderate delays (10-30 minutes): A1 northbound and southbound, junction 75 to Scotswood interchange, carriageway closures for reconstruction/renewal works.

National Highways is responsible for maintaining motorways and major A-roads, so closures of smaller roads will not be included in their schedule.
