Good news as food hygiene ratings awarded to seven North Tyneside establishments

A Food Standards Agency rating sticker on a window of a restaurant in central London. A huge variation in food hygiene standards remains across the UK, with one in five high or medium-risk food outlets failing to meet standards, according to a study.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to seven of North Tyneside’s establishments, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows – and it’s good news for them all.

Restaurants, cafes and canteens

The following ratings have been given to five restaurants, cafes or canteens:

• Rated 5: W.T Bakes at NE12; rated on May 21

• Rated 5: Killingworth Cafe at The Killingworth Site, Staff Restaurant Block E, Harvey Combe, Station Industrial Estate; rated on May 19

• Rated 5: Liddle & Co Coffee House at Unit C, Wilsons Buildings, 14 Earsdon Road, Shiremoor; rated on May 18

• Rated 5: Madi Bakes at 152 Park View, Whitley Bay, Tyne And Wear; rated on May 16

• Rated 5: Local NCL at Unit 15, Mandale Park, Wallsend Road, North Shields; rated on May 10

Pubs, bars and nightclubs

And one rating has been handed to a pub, bar or nightclub:

• Rated 5: Backworth Bites Within Backworth Club at Backworth Club, Station Road, Backworth, Newcastle Upon Tyne; rated on May 18
