New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

New food hygiene ratings have been awarded to two of South Tyneside’s takeaways, the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

UK Pizza, at 52 Staple Road, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear was handed a four-out-of-five rating after assessment on December 14.

And Pearl Cottage, at 47a Fellgate Avenue, Jarrow, Tyne & Wear was given a score of one on December 14.

It means that of South Tyneside's 145 takeaways with ratings, 67 (46%) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
