Newcastle United linked with shock late move for West Ham target amid Saudi Arabia interest

Newcastle United have been linked with a shock move for Lazio star Hirving Lozano as the summer transfer window enters its final days.

The Magpies have already enjoyed a productive window after Eddie Howe added Tino Livramento, Sandro Tonali and Harvey Barnes to his squad on a permanent basis before concluding a season-long loan deal for Chelsea defender Lewis Hall. The England Under-21 star will become a permanent member of Howe’s ranks next summer if certain criteria in the agreement are met throughout the campaign.

There were suggestions further incomings are being considered following an injury to Sven Botman in Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat against Liverpool - but it is a midfielder rather than a defender that is the focus of speculation in Italy.

SpazioNapoli have reported Mexican winger Lozano is a target for the Magpies - although Premier League rivals West Ham United and a number of clubs in Saudi Arabia are also showing an interest in the Napoli star.

The 28-year-old joined the Napoli from PSV Eindhoven in the summer of 2019 and has helped the club to the Coppa Italia and Serie A title during his time at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Magpies outcast undergoes medical ahead of Luton Town move

Premier League newcomers Luton Town have reportedly agreed a deal to sign Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden.

The former Arsenal academy product has spent the last seven years at St James Park after joining the Magpies ahead of the 2016/17 season. His first year on Tyneside saw Hayden play a significant role in helping the Magpies to the Championship title and he continued to feature in the Premier League under former manager Rafa Benitez and successor Steve Bruce.

However, Hayden found game-time hard to come by under Eddie Howe following his appointment in November 2021 and he has not featured in the Premier League game since a month after the former Bournemouth manager took charge.

Hayden spent last season on loan at Championship club Norwich City but returned to Tyneside at the end of the campaign after the Canaries failed to secure promotion into the Premier League. Football Insider have now revealed Luton have seen off interest from Middlesbrough, West Brom, QPR and Millwall to agree a loan deal for Hayden that will officially bring down the curtain on his time as a Magpie.
