Love Island fans were shocked to see the announcement across social media that Adam Collard is set to return to the reality show following a teaser at the end of Sunday evening’s episode.

Following on from his month in the Villa during the show’s fourth season back in 2018, the Geordie is returning to the show this week with tensions in the villa still high from a drama-filled Casa Amor recoupling last week.

The season was won by Jack Fincham and Dani Dyer.

Collard initially went into the villa on day one of the 2018 season, playing the ‘bombshell’ role – someone who is introduced to the show as a way to shake up the couples who had got together earlier in the episode.

The then 22-year-old lasted just over a month in the famous villa, leaving the show on day 33 after failing to be picked as part of a recoupling.

After leaving the show, he entered a relationship with fellow dumped islander Zara McDermott from Essex. The two had been coupled up for a while on the show but tried to make it work away from the cameras. This relationship lasted for around eight months before the two split.

The personal trainer had tried to appear on television before, previously auditioning for Geordie Shore but never made the cast of the show.

After seeing a plethora of Geordies made the small screen through appearances on the show down the years, it took until last week for the first North East contestant to be given air time. Jazmine Nichol entered during the Casa Amor process but was barely shown by the directors and producers before leaving as part of the most recent recoupling, with fans of the show claiming she went ‘missing’ during her time on the show.

In total, nine Newcastle residents have been involved in Love Island including Jazmine and Adam, with the region able to boast one winner, season five’s Amber Gill.
