With inflation and energy bills rising throughout this year, more and more households are struggling to come to terms with the impact that is having on their bank accounts.
Things may be tough at the moment, but there are plenty of groups across the region and country who are still fighting to ensure no individual is left behind as prices for everyday items and utilities.

Foodbanks
Giving to foodbanks or assisting at a foodbank site is one of the most proactive ways to support those in need. The city’s main foodbank is the West End Foodbank which offers food at six points across the city from South Heaton to Westerhope and beyond for those who need support.
There are currently five ways to support Newcastle’s largest foodbank, the first of these is to volunteer with opportunities currently available across the organisation while those in a position to can also donate money or food.
The foodbank’s website offers an updated list of items which are needed at any given time.

Hide AdThe group is also calling on businesses for support with fundraising events, sponsorships, on-site team building days and more all available.
The group also offer payroll giving and Amazon Smile options as ways to donate.
Which charities are supporting people who are struggling due to the cost of living?
Plenty of charities are working to support those in need, and they are looking for support now more than ever.

Those struggling with paying bills can look to Turn2Us for support. The charity look to assist people financially by helping them find any benefit payments and grants they are eligible for. In addition to donations, the group also accepts and supports public fundraising efforts.
Other charities supporting anyone struggling with payments include Step Change for those in debt, as well as Energy Saving Trust and National Energy Action for support with bills.
Many of these charities are looking for volunteers as well as donations.
