The City Tavern, on Northumberland Road, has opened its very own cinema in its garden, showing movies such as Blade Runner, Paddington, Taxi Driver, and more.
The bar is already popular with lovers of food, real ales and craft beers, and now its management are hoping to add film fans to its extensive list of clientèle.

Named Cinema Paradiso, the open air cinema is partly undercover and partly open air as it is tucked away in the narrow ginnel which wraps around the pub.

The venue, which features a cinema-quality projector, giant screen and a cinema sound system, shows three screenings of a differnet, cult classic film every day - free of charge.
Cinema Paradiso holds up to 100 people and also can be privately hired as it is linked to a first-floor function space via a secret staircase.

Owner David King said: “We’ve already hosted a number of private screenings.

“It’s a great venue for group booking and parties because they can have sole use of the first floor space and the cinema – they just let us know which film they’d like to see and we arrange the rest.”
The fully licensed bar is open from 10am unitl 2.30am seven days a week, with the bar’s menu having a junk food section, which includes loaded fries, home-made onion rings, and nachos, something David says “really suits the cinema or party experience”.

Screenings are daily at 2pm, 5pm and 8pm - with the full listings available on the City Tavern Facebook and Instagram pages.
