Staff and residents at Barchester’s South Chowdene Care Home in Low Fell, got in the Christmas spirit by inviting the youngsters of Gateshead Junior Brass Band to come and play festive favourites for us.

The band was led by Dave who is the regular player / conductor of the Gateshead Junior Brass Band and Grace with her heavenly voice also sang ‘Walking in the air’.

Community friends also visited us and very much enjoyed singing along to the carols and just taking in the dulcet sounds which created a beautiful atmosphere.

Activity Coordinator, Niki Powell said: “We are so lucky to have such a fantastic community around us at South Chowdene care home. Singing Christmas carols is such a lovely tradition, and residents come from a brass band culture so it was fantastic that the youngsters are continuing the tradition and could share that with us.”
