Newcastle is known for its pub culture. People travel from far and wide to experience the city’s nightlife and renowned drinking holes.
But so many of our favourite pubs has disappeared over the years. And there’s nothing like the heartbreak that follows losing one of your go-to spots.
For many of us, we don’t even recognise most of the city centre anymore.
The city is ever-changing. However Geordies love to reminisce and remember the amazing nights they had on the town decades ago.
So, here’s a collection of 10 of Newcastle’s lost pubs.
Perhaps you frequented them regularly, or missed your chance to experience the fun completely.
Many of these buildings still stand, but some have been lost forever along with beer-filled memories.
We have memories from the Bigg Market and Haymarket as well as further afield to jog your memories.
Do you remember having a pint in one of these spots? What about a memorable night out with friends?
We hope they bring back some amazing memories.
Have we missed any you think deserve a mention?

1. Egypt Cottage
A great place to celebrity spot given its close proximity to the old Tyne Tees studios. When seminal Ch4 music show The Tube was filmed on City Road it was commonplace to see top artists call in for a tipple. | Newcastle Libs

2. Dobsons
A lot quieter these days - Newcastle Library expanded on to its old location! Much noisier back in the day when the trebles were flowing... | Newcastle Lib

3. Printers Pie/Fleet Street
Its names were inevitable given it was the next-door neighbour to the Evening Chronicle offices. As popular with press folk as it was with revellers getting ready for a night on the nearby Bigg Market just up the lane. | Newcastle Libs

4. Newcastle Hero
Long before Centurion opened, this was the place for a pint either before or after you used a train at Newcastle Central Station. Nowadays it's a Sainsburys catering for rail passengers and nearby city workers. | Google
