Here we have a collection of amazing photos of Newcastle through the mid 1970s.
From 1973 to 1977, Tyneside underwent a significant amount of change.
The decade saw a significant number of collieries close which altered the face of the North East forever. In ‘74, construction of the Metro got underway to make travelling around the region more accessible.
In 1976, Newcastle United hero Malcom ‘Supermac’ McDonald was sold to Arsenal for £333,333.
But how much of the city has changed since then?
Here we have 15 amazing photos of Newcastle in the middle of the decade, thanks to Newcastle Libraries.
