Christmas is out of the way and the new year is looming, and now many people across Newcastle will be looking for new jobs to kick start both the new year as well as the next chapter of their careers.

SEN Learning Support Assistant, Prosper Learning Trust

Role: Based at Newcastle Bridges School on Drayton Road, applicants are expected to work with students with SEN and addressing their needs, delivering interventions and making recommendations about suitable strategies and provision for students. It skills are also needed in order to contribute to SEN report writing and EHCP paperwork.

Hours: 37 hours per week, plus five training days.

Wage: £25,991 – £28,672 per annum pro-rata.

Communications Assistant, Newcastle City Council

Role: Use the council website and social media to engage with local residents, allowing the public to interact with the council directly.

Hours: 37 hours per week on a full time, fixed term 24 month contract.

Wage: £19,312 – £20,493 per annum.

Customer assistant – Tesco

Role: The role is a varied one, with plenty of opportunities to assist across the store. Successful applicants are expected to serve on the checkouts, condensing stock and handling products with care as well as potentially needing to accept deliveries to the store.

The company do mention that only applicants aged 18 or over may be accepted if the role is expected to require working before 6:15am or after 9:45pm or include roles involving working with bread or alcohol.

Care Assistant, Radfield Home Care

Role: Care for older people in their own homes and support them in a variety of ways from taking them out the house to doing weekly shops as well as assisting in medication support and dementia care. All training is delivered.

Hours: Full-time or part-time.

Wage: £10 per hour plus travel and mileage costs.

Role: Welcome university library visitors and verify their visitor status while ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements relating to health and safety as per current restrictions surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic. Successful applicants will also record instances of non-compliance and put any issues to university staff.

Vaccination Hub Support, Newcastle GP Services

Role: Welcome visitors who are expecting to receive their Covid-19 vaccinations in marshalling roles in addition to checking in patients, completing paperwork and taking information to IT data-entry teams for vaccination sites across the city. The main site is expected to be Gosforth Racecourse.

Hours: One of two shifts between 8:00am and 8:00pm.

Wage: This is a volunteering role.
