With the warm weather starting to arrive, there is no better way to spend an afternoon in the sun by the riverside with a cold drink.

5. Alum Ale House

Surrounded by trees and in the shadows of the Gateshead International Stadium floodlights, it can be easy to miss the Schooner, but with its welcoming feel and riverside setting, it is a great place to stop for a drink. Photo: Google
