The Deliveroo Restaurant Awards have returned for 2025, celebrating the best and most loved local restaurants in the UK, from local independent burger joints to neighbourhood sushi restaurants and the the dishes and flavours in between.
Five Newcastle restaurants have been shortlisted for various categories in the North of England and Midlands section of the awards, including Meat:Stack and Cafe 1901.

Takeaway fans can help them take the crown home by voting via deliveroorestaurantawards.com until May 9, with winners due to be announced on May 28. Customers who vote will be automatically entered into a draw to win £150 in Deliveroo credit.
The first North East nomination comes in the Best Burgers and American food category, which includes Meat:Stack. The brand has two sites - one in Newcastle and another in Leeds - with its city centre site on the Bigg Market hugely popular throughout the week. It is up against sites from Leicester, Birmingham, Leeds, York, Sheffield and Manchester.
Elsewhere in the city, hugely popular takeaway spot Wings n More is up for the Best Chicken category. The site is in a perfect position for those out for a day in the city thanks to its Percy Street location.
The Best Breakfast and Coffee sees some of the nation’s top cafes go head to head with Face 1901 in Jesmond featured on the final eight spots regionally. Situated to the rear of Jesmond LIbrary it is a top spot for students who call the area home.

Hide AdNext up is Shwarma Beirut. This Westgate Road site is up for Best Middle Eastern eatery with sites in Birmingham, Leicester, York, Sheffield and Manchester all also hoping for the top spot.
Finally, the hugely popular Zaap Thai has a nomination for the best Thai food. The brand also has sites in Leeds, Sheffield, York and Durham and is always busy throughout the week thanks to its huge menu and incredible decor.
