Mother's Day 2023: The top places to have afternoon tea this year in Newcastle

Mother’s Day falls on Sunday, March 19 this year and anyone who is struggling for gift ideas may prefer to look towards a meal out in Newcastle to celebrate the occasion.

These are some of the top restaurants and bars in Newcastle offering afternoon tea this Mother’s Day.

Jesmond Dene House

Never one to miss out on a big occasion, Jesmond Dene House is offering diners the chance to have Mother’s Day afternoon tea in the site’s Great Hall from 1pm. Bookings can be made by contacting the venue by email or phone.

Meals cost £46 per adult and £20 per child with an impressive mix of scones, sandwiches, savoury and patisserie options available.

3Sixty

This skyline champagne bar claims to offer “sweeping city views” which can be experienced this Mother’s Day. For £23 per person families can enjoy their options of savoury or vegan while a child option is available for £13. Champagne and prosecco options are also available at an additional price.

Copthorne Hotel

Down on the Quayside, this hotel is offering both afternoon tea and Sunday lunch this Mother’s Day. The kitchen at the hotel are promising a selection of sandwiches, cakes and scones served with cream and jam as well as tea and coffee. Two people can eat for £18 with meals for three costing £25 or £32 or four people.

Prosecco upgrades are also available for a small price and bookings can be made by calling the hotel’s events team.

Mam’s Kitchen

Anyone looking for a lovingly homemade afternoon tea is also in luck this Mother's Day. Mam’s Kitchen is based on West Road in the city and offers takeaway and delivery food options near Denton.

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea Gift Boxes are live on their website ready to reserve. Collection is expected on the morning of Mother’s Day between 10am and 11am.

The package is filled with sandwiches, scones, macarons and cupcakes along with toppings with one set costing £20. The company is also making Mother’s Day hampers to order.
