The school holidays are in full flow and the sun is shining, there is no better time for families to head out and reconnect with nature by going on a camping holiday.

So whether it is a family tradition or you are a first timer looking for a place to go, these are some of the top sites around the North East.

Tranwell Farm Camping

Situated just a 30 minute drive from Newcastle city centre, Tranwell Farm is just two miles from Morpeth and within walking distance of amenities and a local pub.

The site offer touring pitches, tent pitches and bell tents in addition to a hut as well as a self catering cottage and, although those staying need a Greener Camping Club membership card, these can be bought for £12 when booking. Campers can stay at the site throughout the summer with bookings closing in October for the winter months.

Stonehaugh Campsite

Further west, Stonehaugh Campsite can be found in the southern section of Northumberland Park and boasts some brilliantly cheap camping options with adult prices starting from £11 per night.

The site is also dog friendly and is able to offer electrical hook ups for campers in the middle of some stunning areas of countryside which is a short drive from Kielder.

Budle Bay Campsite

Heading back to the famous Northumberland coast, the campsite at Budle Bay is easy to reach from Bamburgh and caters for motorhomes, caravans and tents while also offering huts, a bunkhouse and holiday flat in Amble.

The site also offer season-long pitches for campervans across the ten months between March and January.

Ford Bridge Campsite

With a 4.9 average rating on Google, Ford Bridge Campsite is one of the best rated campsites in the North East. Situated a 20 minute drive south from Berwick, the site caters for everything from motorhomes to one person tents for anyone who wants to explore Northumberland, its coast and the borders.

Prices start from £15 for tent pitches while full caravan pitches are available from £24 per night.
