Newcastle is an amazing place and is known for so many things.
From football to nightlife, the city has it all.
But Geordies experience the city differently to those just passing through.
There’s such a strong sense of community on Tyneside and one which is hard to find anywhere else.
If you were brought up on the streets of Newcastle, or have lived here for a while, you’ll know there’s no place like it.
So, here are seven things you’ll only know if you’re a Geordie.
From ditching coats in freezing weather to knowing the distinctions between our accent and Mackems, there’s a lot people from elsewhere don’t know.
Let’s dive in, and let us know if there’s anything we’ve missed.

3. Shy bairns get nowt

4. We have our own language
Knackered = tired. Clamming = hungry. Howay = come on, or similar. We're not going to write you a dictionary. If you like us enough, you'll learn. Photo: .
