13 retro photos showing what life was like in Newcastle back in 1976

It is time to head back to the mid 70s.

Let's go back to 1976 for this Newcastle retro. We have 21 photos showing what life was like in the mid-70s.

It was the year Harold Wilson resigned as Prime Minister and the UK won the Eurovision Song Contest with 'Save Me Your Kisses For Me' by Brotherhood of Man.

Newcastle United finished 15th in the 1975-76 First Division before turning their fortunes around during the 1976-77 season. A year later they finished fifth, with Malcolm Macdonald ending up top goalscorer with 25 goals.

But what was Newcastle like?

Largely, our city is still recognisable 48 years ago. But what differences can you spot?
