Dating back to the Middle Ages, the Bigg Market got its name from the variety of barley which was sold there.
Once a busting market street, the Bigg Market is now a hub of Newcastle's nightlife lined with bars, restaurants and takeaway shops.
The street also boasts over 30 listed buildings, so the next time you're walking down the hill be sure to look up at the incredible architecture.
