Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has a number of animals that are looking for their forever home.
The shelter, which was established in 1896, helps animals that are unwanted, neglected, abused and abandoned - as well as reuniting lost animals with their owners and finding loving new homes for those who are no longer wanted.
Here are 19 cute animals who are in need of a home - you can find out more at: https://www.dogandcatshelter.com/.
Take a look and see if you can open your heart and home to a new four-legged friend!

5. Edna (Cane Corso)
Edna is a beautiful young pup who clearly hasn’t had the best start in life. Edna was found as a stray with a significant injury requiring her leg to be amputated. Edna was initially quite nervous, and still can be when meeting new people, but is very quickly won around and once she is your friend she rolls round for belly rubs and will give your hand a little nudge to remind you she needs lots of your attention! | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

6. Lassie and Star Glitter (Cocker Spaniel)
Lassie and Star Glitter are a pair of super special and super sweet little girls who have stolen all of the shelter staff's hearts. Star Glitter is slightly more independent than Lassie and will explore further when out on walks, whereas Lassie often chooses to stay close to you or regularly checks back in with you at least. Both Lassie and Star Glitter, however, are the most loving and friendly dogs who just love to be loved. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

7. Margot and Daphne
Margot & Daphne are a lovely bonded pair of sisters. Daphne is the more confident of the two and will chat away to you! She loves a chin scratch and particularly enjoys Lick-e-lix treats. Margot is more reserved than her sister and can take a little longer to warm up to you before she’ll allow some strokes. She tends to keep her distance, but once she knows you, she will soon come over for some attention. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter

8. Blueberry (Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross)
Blueberry is a very scared, nervous and timid young lady, in fact, she is one of the most shut down dogs that has walked through the shelter's doors. From the moment she arrived, she just wanted to hide away and not even be looked at; heart-breaking to witness. Blueberry has come a long way during her time in the shelter, but still has a long way to go. | Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter
