Music festivals are a great way to spend the summer, and there are many to attend across the UK.

However, there are also many to attend in the North East that celebrate talent from the area, as well as bringing established acts to the region - with ticket prices that won’t break the bank.

Here are five music festivals in the North East you need to attend this summer.

Lindisfarne Festival

Lindisfarne Festival is a music and arts festival that will take place over a weekend at the end of August on the Northumberland coast. The festival, which has been held since 2015, will return to Beal Farm which overlooks Holy Island from August 31 until September 3. Confirmed acts include legendary Scottish rock band Primal Scream. Tickets can be purchased here, with monthly payment plans available.

Generator Live

Generator Live is a festival celebrating up and coming North East talent. The festival has been held under the name Generator Live since last year but it has actually been going for the past 20 years under different names, originally as Evolution Emerging. The line-up for 2023 is yet to be announced, and hopeful performers can apply for a place now. The event will take place in September in Newcastle. Tickets can be purchased here.

This Is Tomorrow

This Is Tomorrow takes place at Exhibition Park in Newcastle, on Friday May 26. The line-up is yet to be announced and tickets are yet to be on sale. The organisers have previously held special versions of their festivals for NHS key workers. In previous years, This Is Tomorrow has had the likes of Sam Fender perform.
