Autumn is always a mixed bag when it comes to weather, so it’s all about making the most of the days when you’re able to enjoy the great outdoors.
We all know that this time of year can throw up some pretty miserable days, but when the sun does shine it really emphasises those vibrant autumn colours.
Here in the North East we’re lucky to have so many great places to explore the very best of autumn, from nature reserves to city centre parks.
We’ve picked out five of the prettiest towns and villages that are perfect for a day trip over the next few weeks.
