The pair previously stated in interviews and in their joint autobiographies Ooh! What A Lovely Pair and Once Upon A Tyne, that they didn’t originally get along with each other when they first met on the set of Newcastle-based children’s drama series Byker Grove in the nineties.

However, they soon bonded over their love of Newcastle United, and continue to travel to the city to watch home matches whenever they can.

Sadly for the fans including the television stars, Newcastle United were defeated in the Wednesday game by Dortmund, who won with a score of 1-0.
