A Newcastle-based business is preparing to be jam-packed with people and doughnuts as it marks the opening of a new doughnut store on the premises.

Hatchet Harry’s will host the Forth Goods Yard unit, which marks the axe-throwing business the second UK store to house a branch of Harry’s Handcrafted Doughnuts.

To celebrate the opening, the store is giving out a free doughnut to everyone who stops by from 11am today until stocks run out.

The sticky treats first started out as a lockdown project for Jack Beadle and Richard Bridge, who enjoyed so much success that they decided to take their sweet treats to the high street.

They first opened in Darlington and have enjoyed so much success at their franchise there that they’re planning to open more across the UK.

Jack said: “Our fantastic customers in Newcastle gave us the support and the means to rapidly expand our axe-throwing locations across the UK.

“So it’s only fair that Newcastle’s Hatchet Harry’s gets to benefit from the arrival of our sister business Harry’s Handcrafted Doughnuts.

“Our stand-alone doughnut store in Darlington proved so popular that we are confident the Newcastle launch will also be a huge success. We can’t wait to let people sample our mouth-watering products for free on Saturday.”

The doughnut giveaway will operate on a one-per-person, first-come-first-served basis until the day’s stock has all gone.

Hatchet Harry’s currently operates at centres in Newcastle, Glasgow, Liverpool, Aberdeen, Nottingham, Middlesbrough and Derby, with Brighton scheduled to open on June 25.
