Barbie girl in a Geordie world: Who would play each role if the movie was set in Newcastle
Imagine a world where the Barbie characters are played by Newcastle icons.
Barbie, the brand-new movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling in lead roles as Barbie and Ken, was officially released in cinemas, last Friday (July 21).
The perfectly pink reimagining of the Mattel doll franchise has been a huge hit with audiences around the world, for its message, comedy moments, impact and of course, colourful aesthetic.
I saw the movie myself last weekend, and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
However, being a Geordie and super fan of all celebrities who call our city home, I found my mind wandering to an alternate universe, where Newcastle icons were casted in the roles of the doll characters.
Check out the gallery below, of who I personally think would be the perfect casting choice in a Newcastle based Barbie land.

1. Barbie
Perrie Edwards of Little Mix fame, is the perfect choice to play Margot Robbie’s Barbie. This is due to her sunny-natured personality, as well as her resemblance to the character.

2. Ken
Our very own Geordie superstar, Sam Fender radiates ‘kenergy’, making him the perfect Geordie choice for the lead role.

3. President Barbie
President Barbie of the Newcastle based Barbie land has to Geordie pop icon Cheryl.

4. Writer Barbie
Due to her journalism background, Vick Hope is the perfect choice for Writer Barbie.
