Black Friday 2023: When is the event and are Newcastle's Metrocentre and Eldon Square opening times changing?

Before Christmas in the calendar comes Black Friday. For many it is a chance to shop for presents on the cheap while others use the occasion as an opportunity to treat themselves, but what is happening around Newcastle this year to celebrate the day?

When is Black Friday 2023?

As an American answer to our Boxing Day sales, Black Friday happens on the day after Thanksgiving each year, meaning this year’s event will fall on Friday, November 24 after Thanksgiving on Thursday, November 23.

What time are shops opening on Black Friday in Newcastle?

While shops are yet to announce when they will be opening on Black Friday, Eldon Square in the city centre have said they will remain open as usual This is 9am - 7pm on Fridays. The site's opening times do change the following week, leaving an extra hour for evening shopping in the peak build up to Christmas.

The Metrocentre in Gateshead is also not expected to change its opening times for the day of deals. The site's regaulr Friday hours run between 9am and 9pm. Times are expected to change for the Christmas period, however.

The Metrocentre has also listed all sites offering deals as part of the Black Friday event. These include at least 25% off everything at The Body Shop, 30% off at Clarks, staggered discoutns at he Perfume Shop and more. The full list can be found at the shopping centre's website.
