A body has sadly been found in the search for missing Shiremoor man David Hall.

The 55-year-old was last seen by his family leaving his home address in Shiremoor on Sunday, September 11. His worried family reported him missing after they struggled to make contact with him.

A search was launched and a number of enquiries were carried out to locate David, but sadly a body was found on Tuesday evening in the Durham Constabulary area in the River Wear.

Formal identification has now taken place and David’s next of kin are being supported by specialist officers at this devastating time.

Police do not believe there to be any third party involvement in his death and a report will now be made for the coroner.

“Our thoughts remain with David’s family and loved ones. We will continue to offer them support during this extremely difficult time and would ask that their privacy is respected.

“We want to thank everyone who shared our appeal to help find David, as well as all our officers, partners and volunteers who assisted with our search. It is hugely appreciated.”
