'Both delighted and appalled' - Newcastle United's Anthony Gordon set to miss two games in Euro blow
Newcastle United fans have taken to social media after Anthony Gordon was left out of the England squad ahead of the national team's next international break.
Gordon, who is yet to pick up a senior cap for England, was expected by many Newcastle fans to make the 15 man squad to face Malta and North Macedonia later this month.

Gareth Southgate's midfield options are made up of Trent Alexander Arnold, Jude Bellingham, Conor Gallagher, Jordan Henderson, Kalvin Phillips and Declan Rice, leaving Gordon still searching for his first national appearance at the senior level.
Newcastle United fans were not impressed by the omission, with plenty taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, to express their frustration, tinged with a sense of relief.
"People shouldn't be surprised anymore when Southgate picks his usual suspects regardless of form. Waste of energy getting annoyed. Gordon can rest and hopefully Wilson withdraws too" said one, referring to the huge amount of fixtures the club will play in the coming weeks.
