Newcastle residents are more likely to make themselves a meal or sandwich at home for work than they are to grab a meal deal.

New research from Moneypenny conducted a survey of 1,000 UK office workers to chart lunch preferences for workers.

UK workers predominantly prepared something from home specifically for their lunch, with 55% of Newcastle workers meal prepping at home.

The poll also investigated which shop is the most popular choice for UK workers, with Tesco found to be the nationwide favourite followed closely by Greggs and M&S.

Moneypenny also found that 60% of workers ate at their desks, while 36% ate in their living rooms and just 28% preferred to eat in the dining room or kitchen.

Just over a quarter of polled workers said they would opt for a healthier option three days a week.
