If you’re looking for a cosy cocktail bar right in the heart of Newcastle, then Cafe Mercy is the place to go.

Cafe Mercy is the newest location of the award-winning Mother Mercy cocktail bar, with four other venues dotted around the city centre.

But Cafe Mercy is different from the others, as it has more of a relaxed atmosphere, making it the perfect place to visit when you fancy a chat over a delicious, unique cocktail.

I visited Cafe Mercy yesterday (Thursday, October 12), with a friend and we instantly felt at home in the bar, as we were welcomed by the staff.

Before we get into the incredible cocktails and delightful small plates Cafe Mercy has to offer, I must mention the amazing customer service by staff members Laura and Will, who ensured we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves from start to finish.

The service was also fairly quick, and as someone who was excited for a drink and a bite to eat after a day’s work, it was something I certainly appreciated.

I chose three cocktails to try, the Sunset Mai Tai, the Hot Honey Margarita and a Marshmallow Fizz.

All of the cocktails were unlike any I’d tasted before. They all had a unique taste to them, and on the first sip of each cocktail, I was instantly delighted.

The Sunset Mai Tai was certainly the strongest of the three, and when drinking it I genuinely felt like I was transported to a sunny exotic location, with Tiki rum, Cointreau, fresh lime, pineapple, blood orange and cinnamon being the main ingredients.

My second choice, the Hot Honey Margarita was my absolute favourite of all. First of all the presentation was fantastic, as sat atop the cocktail was a beautiful purple flower and a honey dipper stick covered in chilli flakes.

It was such a unique drink, and I made the brave decision to dip the chilli flakes into the drink, which absolutely enhanced the flavour.

My final drink, the Marshmallow Fizz was the perfect choice for a cocktail with an autumnal vibe. It was sweet but certainly not overpowering, and absolutely delicious.

Alongside my drinks, I also ordered a small plate, going for the mixed charcuterie which included Archari salami and smoked Dorset Coppa. It was served alongside a yummy and generous slice of bread, which perfectly complemented the meat selection.

I had an excellent experience at Cafe Mercy, and everything from the cocktails, the food and the service couldn’t be faulted.

I will certainly be returning, as well as highly recommended Cafe Mercy to everyone I know.
