A much-loved Christmas character will be making an appearance.

Newcastle Comic Con, which hosted a successful event in the summer, has announced that it will return this winter, with a special Christmas guest.

Hosted by Unleashed Events, Newcastle Comic Con creates a space for super fans of all things ‘geeky’, to come together and celebrate.

Sharon Hall of Unleashed Events, said: "We traditionally hold our Newcastle Comic-Con in the summertime, however, we wanted our last event of the year to be even more awesome and Newcastle is just the place to do that!”

The family-friendly event provides a fun opportunity for fans to come together, and explore a range of pop culture interests from superheroes, anime, horror, gaming and Disney.

Special guests for the winter event includes actors Amy Manson who has appeared in the likes of Once Upon A Time, Torchwood and The Nevers, Steven Hartley who has had roles in The Witcher 3, Sword Coast Legends and The Bill, and Adam Basil from The Last Of Us, Beauty and the Beast and Venom.

Since this event will be held during the festive period, it has also been announced that the much-loved Christmas character The Grinch, will also make an appearance!

Sharon explained: “Christmas is just around the corner, so we are super excited to be bringing the lovable but mischievous green antihero, The Grinch! We will make sure he won’t steal comic-con from us, but he will surely make you laugh and even smile!”

At Newcastle Comic Con, attendees will also be given the chance to chat to comic book artists, animators and authors, while there will also be vendor tables to visit with various collectibles and original artwork.

Cosplay, which is an activity where fans dress up as their favourite character is encouraged, with prizes to be won for the best costumes.

Sharon said: “This is the last comic-con event of the year and it is a great opportunity to come along and have some fun!

“Newcastle Comic-Con always has such an amazing atmosphere as everyone is there for a shared interest and to have a good time.

“Come along and see what Newcastle Comic-Con is all about – meet the celebrities, have your photo taken with your favourite Superhero, browse the smorgasbord of stalls with a vast selection of geeky goodies, dance with your anime friends, and it doesn’t even matter if you come along dressed as your favourite character or simply wear your favourite geeky t-shirt you are going to have an incredible time!”

Newcastle Comic Con will be held at St James’ Park on Sunday, November 12 from 11am to 5pm.

Tickets are priced at £10 for adults, and £5 for those under 16. Tickets can be bought on the door or online via the Unleashed Events ticket website.
