Messages of adulation have continued to pour in for a heroic Newcastle fan who administered life-saving treatment to another supporter on Sunday.

Dr Tom Prichard is an A&E consultant at the University Hospital of North Tees in Stockton and leapt into action when a supporter collapsed in the stands during Newcastle United's clash with Tottenham Hotspur at St. James' Park.

The match was stopped just before half time to allow the fan to receive treatment, led by Dr Prichard and fellow doctors, before he was taken away by emergency services.

The club has now confirmed that the fan is in a 'stable and responsive condition'.

Dr Prichard appeared on BBC Breakfast this morning and said: "I would say when I was walking back, and fans were chanting "hero" at me, that was one of the best moments of my life."

Celebrities from across the country have taken to social media to praise the Good Samaritan.
