Christmas in Newcastle 2022: Pharmacy Christmas opening times in Newcastle including Boots and Lloyds

Christmas feels like a time when everything stops - but taking care of your health should not be put on hold by seasonal opening hours. And chemists and pharmacists in the Newcastle area share the sentiment.

Many pharmacies will remain open for longer in the week running up to  Christmas, with the likes of Boots and Lloyds Pharmacy scheduling late night shopping for both their stores and pharmacies. The majority of pharmacies in Newcastle though will remain closed on the bank holiday Monday and Tuesday after Christmas -  them being Boxing Day and a substitute for Christmas Day which this year lands on a Sunday.

The NHS has advised due to postal strikes set in the lead up to Christmas Day 2022, those who receive their prescriptions by Royal Mail (for example those who use Lloyds Pharmacy’s app) to ensure that they get their doctors notes ahead of time to avoid missing any doses.

Any problems, the NHS also suggests consulting a doctor well ahead of time in order to have prescriptions written up to avoid potential congestion in local chemists or through the postal service in the approach to Christmas Day.

What are the seasonal hours for pharmacies in Newcastle?

Boots

Although Boots will be closed on Christmas Day, a number of their stores look to re-open in Newcastle on Boxing Day and Christmas Day observed (December 27 2022) between the hours of 11am until 5pm.

For smaller stores, Boots have advised that customers check the company’s store locator page on their website in the event smaller franchisees have decided to operate alternative hours due to demand.

Lloyds Pharmacy

Lloyds Pharmacy have confirmed on their website that all stores will be closed from December 25 to December 27, to give employees both Boxing Day and Christmas Day observed off. Stores will be opening Christmas Eve, however, between the hours of 9am and 1pm.

Shieldfield Pharmacy

Shieldfield Pharmacy will remain closed over Christmas Day weekend until December 28 2022.

Quayside Pharmacy

Quayside Pharmacy is one of the few pharmacies that will open on December 26, albeit only between the hours of 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The store will close once again for December 27 2022.

Kerr Pharmacy

Kerr Pharmacy will remain closed from Christmas Day until December 28.

Medicentre

Medicentre have confirmed that despite being closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, they will open on December 27 from 10am to midday, before returning to regular operational hours.

Molineux Pharmacy

Molineux Pharmacy will open for two hours on Christmas Day, between 10am until 12pm, but will close on December 26 and December 27.

Whitworth Chemist

Whitworth Chemist will remain closed from Christmas Day until December 28.

Nuns Moor Pharmacy

Nuns Moor Pharmacy will remain closed from Christmas Day until December 28.
