Northumbria Police received a report that an altercation had taken place in Times Square, outsides the Centre for Life, sometime between 3am and 3.15am on Tuesday, April 25.

Officers have said that CCTV footage taken from the area shows a man had suffered significant facial injuries.

Northumbria Police say the incident happened outside the Centre for Life.

One man has been arrested and released on bail, pending further police inquiries.

Police are now keen to trace the victim of the incident, who they say was wearing a black jumper and blue jeans at the time.

Officers are asking the individual, or anyone who knows them, to get in touch via the ‘Tell us Something’ page of the Northumbria Police website or call 101, quoting crime number 051455R/23.
