Newcastle ranked as one of the UK's mobile phone theft hotspots
A new study has found Newcastle is ranked fifth in the amount of mobile phone thefts after data for throughout 2022 was released.
Work from GetPhoneRepairs.com has shown 1,100 phone thefts were recorded in Newcastle last year totalling £391,000 of technology. This means there were three phone thefts recorded per day on average.

Hide AdAccording to the data, recorded phone thefts were up 29% from 2021, although the overall numbers are still yet to recover to pre-covid rates.
London ranked top for mobile phone thefts with 91,103 recorded thefts of the 135,147 total across the UK at a total cost of £32.3 million in the capital. This averages out at 250 thefts per day or just over 10 thefts per 1,000 people.
Manchester, Doncaster and Liverpool make up the top four before Newcastle, which ranks fifth. The top ten is completed with Nottingham, Preston, Salford, Birmingham and Sheffield.
